Horace E. Dimick was born in Vermont about 1811 and passed away August 27, 1873.

Dimick worked as an upholsterer and cabinet maker befor he came to St. Louis about 1849. He ist first listened in the 1851 directory. At that time with his brother Edward E. Dimick he opened a gun shop H. E. Dimick & Co. at 36 North Main Street.

In 1854 - 1859 Dimick was associeated with Henry FOlsom and the company changed name to H.E. Dimick & Company. They were instaled at 97 North 4th Street. Folsom left in 1861. The name of the company did not change. In 1864 annd 1865 it became again H. E. Dimick and Co.. as of 1865 until 1873 the company was only known as H. E. Dimick and their arms were so market.

When Dimick died August 27, 1873 the shop was bought by Thomas Rudolph, who wha his bookkeper and William Albright, son of Thomas John Albright.
